Chinese Temples Committee
The Chinese Temples Committee (the Committee) is a statutory body established in 1928 under the Chinese Temples Ordinance (Chapter 153). Its key responsibilities include administration of 24 temples and promotion of traditional temple culture. It also provides funds to support customary temple ceremonies, repair works to Chinese temples and various charitable community projects. Candidates should:
- have a bachelor’s degree or above;
- have at least 6 years’ full time post-qualification working experience with managerial responsibility;
- have attained Level 2 or equivalent or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE), or equivalent【See Note (1)】(please provide details of the public examination results obtained);
- have solid experience in marketing, event planning, management and coordination, with experience in Chinese culture promotion is an advantage;
- be familiar with Chinese customs and local traditions preferred;
- have strong command of both written and spoken Chinese and English;
- have strong communication, interpersonal and organization skills; and
- be able to work under pressure and on tight schedule.
- Previous working experience in government / quasi-government / public organization is an advantage.
- For appointment purpose, Grade E in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to Level 2 respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth; Level 1 in the Use of Chinese and Use of English papers of the Common Recruitment Examination are accepted administratively as comparable to Level 4 in Chinese Language and English Language of the HKDSEE.
- Candidate must be a permanent resident of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.
- Where a large number of candidates meet the specified entry requirements, the Committee may devise shortlisting criteria to select the better qualified candidates for further processing. In these circumstances, only shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend selection interview.
- To plan the promotion strategy with the aim to uplifting the image of CTC and promoting Chinese culture;
- To develop a comprehensive social media plan to enhance the digital promotion of temple culture / Chinese culture;
- To review the temple filming application mechanism and propose recommendations for revisions;
- To plan, coordinate, and supervise the promotion activities of the Committee and strengthen the collaboration with various organizations;
- To prepare committee papers and correspondence on matters relating to promotions; and
- To perform any other duties assigned by senior officers.
This vacancy is a post on the Secretariat’s establishment. Salary of the position will be remunerated and subject to annual increment where applicable with reference to the Master Pay Scale of the Civil Service. It may also be subject to Civil Service pay adjustment. The incumbent will normally work under a 5-day week schedule. Upon satisfactory completion of the full contract period with consistently high standard of performance, the appointee will be granted a gratuity for the period of service. Such gratuity, plus any contribution by the Employer to the MPF scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Scheme Ordinance, will be equal to 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period. Other fringe benefits include 18 days annual leave, group medical and dental-care scheme.
