Golden Dragon Ceiling

Standing under the octagonal roof in the front hall and look up at the ceiling, you would be captivated by a magnificent golden dragon that circles it. The coiling dragon is a sign that the temple has a close connection with the Tai Hang Fire Dragon. According to a legend in the 19th century, a villager killed a snake in Tai Hang but the corpse was found disappeared next day. Within days, an outbreak of a plague had killed many villagers. In order to stop the plague, villagers performed a ritual fire dragon dance during Mid-Autumn Festival. Nowadays, the custom still goes on. An eye-dotting ceremony will be held in the temple before the dragon flies through the streets.
